WHAT IS J.R.O.T.C.?JROTC is an elective that prepares students for life, not the military. JROTC combines classroom instruction with extracurricular activities to increase students' awareness of the rights, responsibilities, and privileges of citizenship. The program also builds life skills and provides leadership opportunities to the cadets by allowing them to be in leadership positions.

HOW WAS J.R.O.T.C. CREATED?
Established by Congress in 1916, Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (Army J.R.O.T.C.) has demonstrated over the decades that the program works. JROTC cadets typically graduate at higher levels than the school as a whole. Principals, parents, and former cadets consistently endorse the positive impact JROTC has on the school, the community, and the cadets themselves.
TEAMSThe Dragon Battalion offers different teams that challenge the cadets in their own way. The teams that are available in the program are Drill, Sabre, Rifle, and Robotics Teams, Color Guard and Honor Guard.

THE LEADERSHIP
In other classes, the teachers carry out all the lesson plans and make sure the students are well disciplined and engaged in school. However, in JROTC, CW3 Murphy and 1SG Hurley only facilitate as the cadets carry out everyday instruction and run the battalion. The program is completely cadet run.
Mission Statement:
"To Motivate Young People To Be Better Citizens"
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?What you learn isn't defined by a textbook. JROTC is a cadet led program. Cadets have more responsibilities and challenges compared to other high school classes. The main objective in JROTC is based around the cadets' willingness to lead and succeed. This program is devoted to students' growth and development as a cadet, and as a person.

JROTC PREPARES YOU FOR LIFE!
JROTC is a course students take during school hours but includes many activities out of the classroom. In the class, cadets can expect to cover the basics of history, government, technology awareness, and current events. The most important thing that is taught in JROTC is leadership and college readiness skills such as studying methods, test-taking skills, and tips that help you become career ready.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIESJROTC offers many different extra-curricular activities, those being the teams and J.L.A.B.. Along with those, each year, highly motivated cadets are selected to go to JROTC summer camp called the Junior Cadet Leadership Challenge(J.C.L.C) where they have the opportunity to:

BATTALION ACHIEVEMENTS
The Warren Central Dragon Battalion has a tradition of being one of the stronger, better-disciplined J.R.O.T.C. programs in Warren County since that's what the battalion strives to be. The Dragon Battalion has been recognized as an "Honor Unit with Distinction" since 1999 as well as being highly competitive in the team competitions. However, outside of the classroom and teams, the Dragon Battalion is known for its support of the various community events, receiving the President's Volunteer Service Award in 2014.
